How to Deal with Dashboard Drowsiness: Becoming a better driver.

Driving when you are tired is highly risky. It is like trying to sleep and walk on a tightrope — dangerous and difficult to predict. When you feel too tired, the chances of making mistakes are high, and this may cost you dearly. It is not merely fighting the yawns whilst driving but also being safe on the road with the help of a driver fatigue monitoring system that detects drowsiness and helps prevent accidents.

To begin with, have a bit of rest. It may seem an apparent thing that should not be forgotten, but it is easy to lose track of it. A short nap can do a lot of good. You would feel much more energized in the next 15 minutes. The thing is to understand when you become exhausted. Take light and healthy snacks including almonds or fruit. You should not attempt to drive on an empty stomach just like you would attempt to drive a car on an empty. You will get energy and not feel heavy because there will be a food at the right time.

And never forget about the world about you. Ensure that your seat is at the right angle, your mirrors are adjusted and the interior is favorable. When you are not comfortable when driving you will be less attentive. When you feel exhausted your attention will be distracted by whether your back is sore or whether you are too hot or cold. Even a small comfort will help a lot. It is as though preparing to go on a long car ride: you would wish everything to be alright to be able to have fun.

You should also keep your mind going. Far stretches of highway could well hypnotize you. To fight that, listen to music, a podcast or even chatting with a passenger. Distracting your mind will make you stay alert. Just don’t go too far. Excessive cerebral stimulation is as exhausting as insufficient. Keep it even.

Technology can also be used to counter fatigue. Two among the many functions of modern cars are adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist that make driving less stressful and tiresome to drivers. Those tools will not make you more alert, however, they can assist you to remain on track when you are tired. It is like having a co-pilot, having someone else watch your back.

Finally, know your boundaries. You should not disregard it when you think that you are not able to keep your eyes open. Rest in a safe place, however briefly, even though it takes only a few minutes. That road will not go away before you are ready and it is far better to arrive at the destination rather than rush.

The correct decisions are required to overcome driver fatigue and take care of your body. Take lots of water, eat little and be comfortable and keep your mind active. It is not just a question of personal safety but a question of life and death that one should know what is taking place on the road.
